Served as a board member and eventually chairman of the board and inaugural chairman emeritus for arguably the most dynamic PEG station in the United States.

National Veterans Art Museum

 

 

 

Served as the Executive Director for what was originally called the Vietnam Veterans Art Museum.  Highlights included:

  • Increased annual, non-investment, revenue from $24,000 in 2010 to $640,000 in 2014 and instituted much needed financial/operational policies and procedures and eliminated all past audit issues;
  • Revamped the website (NVAM.org) and launched a communications initiative that utilized a variety of social media platforms, e-newsletters and a local access cable television show;
  • Established a prolific grant writing program that focused on general, youth oriented connected/digital learning and therapeutic art opportunities for military families; and
  • Forged alliances with entities such as Ingenuity, Inc., the Hive Connected Learning Network, the Chicago City of Learning Initiative, Illinois Joining Forces, the Union League Club’s Public Affairs/Military Affairs Sub-committee, Arts Alive 45, Arts Alliance Illinois and the Six Corners Business Association (President and SSA 28 Commissioner).

Served as a Vice-President and Board Secretary for what was then the largest business organization in Illinois.  Responsibilities and duties included:

  • Serving as the primary federal and City of Chicago lobbyist;
  • Serving as the Chicago metropolitan area media spokesperson:
  • Liaison to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce;
  • Managing the Chicago office and the workforce development programs and communications operations;
  • Launching the organization’s initial international trade program.
